If fiddling away with crossfades and jump-outs in PowerPoint counts, then I was a designer in '08. (I did spend plenty of days in my dad's office, with little of interest but a desktop stocked with Minesweeper and Office—I got better at the former.) In case that doesn’t, I’ve been designing apps and websites since 2018. I design to make things better—by making lots of things. Some good, some not-so-good, all of them opportunities to test, learn, and improve.
Does design solve every problem? Definitely no. But it makes a difference where it counts. Therefore, I keep my focus on understanding how people use things, finding ways to make their lives easier, and leaving every product I touch in a better place than I found it.
